Bart Olson’s Slide Show Presentation
Our November 2023 Luncheon was a packed room! Yorkville City Administrator Bart Olson came to present the 2023 year in review. Starting off strong with a recap on new food and drink updates, Yorkville has gained new restaurants, bars, as well as a coffee shop. Moving into 2022- 2023 residential development, there has been new housing along with a lot of new subdivision development. He also talked about what to expect in 2024 in terms of economic development. Yorkville is bringing in Station One Smokehouse, Taco Dále, Little Loaf Bakehouse, and Quik Trip. If you are looking for a job, Bright Farms is also opening up along with The Vault that are both currently hiring. Bart did make clear that despite many rumors there is sadly no Costco currently slated to come to Yorkville.
He continued with information about the new Parkview Christian Academy K-1 Center, the Green Door warehouse data center, proposed plans for the Van Emmon Activity Center, and that suggestions for use at the old Post Office because it is currently unutilized.
He also talked about project updates to expect in 2024:
- Changing Yorkville’s water source to Lake Michigan water.
- Accelerated watermain replacement program.
- Riverwalk study. Crosswalk over or under the bridge?
- Public works facility because the current is unsafe and uses existing revenue.
- Road expansion to Rt. 47 into Rte 71.Plus, a new playground at Countryside Pavilion Park. With the land for the park being donated by Yorkville Congregational Church.
